Government and Municipal Council of Brava sign several agreements in strategic areas.

In statements to the press, Ulisses Correia e Silva highlighted that the signed protocols affect sectors such as highways, urban and environmental redevelopment, social housing, sports, culture, sanitation, fishing, among others, considering them a "wide range of interventions" that represent "clear commitments" from the Government.

“Each signature represents a responsibility. We will fulfill it. We are not starting from scratch; the Government has already carried out several interventions and investments in Brava, and others are underway. But in this meeting, we wanted to send a very strong message because we work with the municipal councils in a logic of complementarity, subsidiarity, and partnership,” stated the head of Government.

According to the Prime Minister, this cooperation is in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic, allowing and guaranteeing coordination between central and local powers, always focusing on service to the people and the territory.

During the visit, Ulisses Correia e Silva also addressed other ongoing issues, such as the process of acquiring a ship to guarantee a permanent maritime link between Fogo and Brava, the installation of a water desalination system fully supported by renewable energies — whose center is already ready — as well as the resolution of the problem of excess manganese in the water, for which, he said, a solution is being sought that may emerge soon.

Ulisses Correia e Silva also announced that several other interventions will take place, including the Health Center and the Health Delegation of Brava, whose process had to be adjusted to guarantee its sustainability.

“It’s not just about constructing buildings, it’s about ensuring they are functional, sustainable and capable of providing a good service. The adjustment process is already complete and we expect to move quickly to the construction phase of this facility, which the people of Brava have been waiting for for many years,” he stressed.

In turn, the president of the Brava Municipal Council, Amândio Brito, stated that the Prime Minister's visit was eagerly awaited, emphasizing that there had been prior and very well-coordinated efforts to make it happen.

According to the mayor, the signing of protocols, program contracts, and agreements constitutes an "important indicator" in the island's development process, since the signed documents cover fundamental areas such as solid waste treatment, infrastructure, social housing, culture, and sports.

"These are aspects that need a very strong boost to advance the development of Brava. This act clearly signifies the island's expectations for its future," he stated.

Amândio Brito stressed, however, that the great expectation of the municipality and the population lies in the rapid fulfillment of the commitments made. "More than just signing, we expect the execution process to begin immediately, so that we can see the results of the signed contracts and agreements on the ground," he concluded.
